No
Is there a history of any serious illness, disability or health challenge in your family?
Nothing out of the ordinary. At old age my grandparents have died, which is of course serious but not unusual. One Aunt has a mild case of MS which doesn't affect her daily life. My parents are 70 and in great health.

What is/was your Major/Field of Study?
I previously studied Physics. Now I am studying Digital Media Design for a startup I am founding.
Other achievements or honors of note?
Student President of NYU Physics / graduated with honors; Paid to work as a professional fashion model for Louis Vuitton; Ran a half-marathon; Active choral singer / sang in groups at Lincoln Center, the Berlin Philharmonie, Symphony Hall and others.
Are you currently working? If so, what is your occupation?
My career was in Data Science. I recently left to study at Harvard & on my own for the purpose of founding a company.
What was the defining moment that made you choose your field of study/career path?
As for physics - In high school, I enjoyed math and found it fascinating. I watched some physics documentaries and the thought of trying to understand what everything is made of at the bottom and how it all works felt like one of the most meaningful things you can do. Our reality was not human-made, so it's a true mystery intrinsic to the universe we're in.
Personal
How would you describe your personality?
Thoughtful, analytical, considerate, hard-working
How would people who know you describe you?
I asked someone who knows me very well, she said "rational, kind/empathetic, reasonable".
What is your favorite cuisine or dish to consume?
I don't have a clear favorite, but I like to eat lots of vegetables. Salmon, when it's made well, can be really great. As for cuisines I like Mexican, Japanese, and Ethiopian among the best.
What is a book you love?
The Age of Entanglement is a great book on the history of Quantum Mechanics.
What books are you currently reading?
More casually I've been reading The Stranger. Less casually I've been reading a lot about startups, including The Facebook Effect (very interesting, the movie was not very realistic) and The Airbnb Story (not quite as good).
Favorite TV Shows/Movies?
I don't watch much TV or movies. A lot of live-action feels to me like it portrays an overly simplistic narrative of what life is really like, and I think it's possible to start understanding real life in terms of the caricatures that are handed to you in movies. That's not the end of the world, but I think there's more to understand and explore about what people are like than those convenient, simple boxes. I like some films, for example I recently enjoyed Where Is the Friend's House by Kiarostami. I liked A Man Escaped by Robert Bresson. I also liked some more fun things like Mean Girls, Samurai Champloo, and Cheer, the Netflix docu-series, which my partner got me into.
Favorite Bands/Musicians?
Some bands I like: The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Neil Young, Queen, Radiohead. I like a lot of music from Miyazaki movies too. I really like classical music and listen to it more than any other genre. Bach is my favorite composer. If you're keen to try, look up the double violin concerto (especially the second movement). I also like the Goldberg Varations and the Brandenburg Concertos for example.
Do you play any instruments?
I've played piano since I was a kid. I sing a lot in choirs, and have directed an A Capella group.
Any sports you enjoy/excel at?
I'm a solid runner, I have run a half-marathon. I've recently gotten into bouldering and I go 2x/week.
What hobbies/activities do you enjoy?
Singing and piano is probably the best answer! I like hanging out with friends / organizing gatherings, watching interesting stuff on YouTube.
Favorite places you’ve visited or would love to travel to?
I really liked Barcelona, the church there is beautiful and I made a lot of friends at the hostel I stayed at. Also enjoyed Leipzig, Kyoto, Cape Town (South Africa), Athens.
Who are you closest to in your family and why?
I think I'm close to each of the members of my immediate family in different ways. Like, depending on the topic one person or another is the best to go to. I call my Mom, Dad, and Sister pretty regularly.
Who are the most important people in your life?
Probably my parents and sister.
What would you consider to be your greatest strengths?
Integrity, Empathy, Consistent work, Analytic thinking.
What are your special talents?
I'm a very good whistler and considered competing in the international whistling competition (Masters of Musical Whistling) though it's always held in a far-away place. I'm a very musical person in general.
What is something you've accomplished in life that you are most proud of?
Honestly, getting through the BSc and MSc in reputable physics / theoretical physics programs itself was itself an accomplishment, especially doing well in the upper-level classes. I'm proud that I think I've made real progress in the measurement problem, a problem that has been around in physics for decades.
What is something people would be pleasantly surprised to learn about you?
I think people would be happy if they saw that I am considerate.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Ideally: Running a successful business that I think improves something in the world, have a family and kids.
What is one change you wish to see in the world?
There are so many. I think that reducing the influence of money on the political system would be a solid one that would have a lot of benefits, for example reversing Citizens United v. FEC.
What are your favorite words to live by?
I wish life were that simple that a few words were enough to provide the answer to it. But I'd say "optimistic" is a good one, especially when it comes to people - accepting that you sometimes don't know why someone did something, and not assuming bad intentions unless the evidence is very solid.
Why do you want to become a sperm donor?
I saw an article about a donor who had some contact with some of the families he had donated to and it was a positive thing for him. And at the same time it means so much to the families you donate to, to give them that chance. When it comes to the nature or amount of that contact, it's impossible to predict in advance, and it may at times be hard alongside the slings and arrows that life brings, as well as respecting possible feelings of my future wife and kids. But I want to allow for space for a child born through a donation to have a conversation, ask questions and understand that part of their identity. I think that would be possible at least on occasion regardless of my other life circumstances.
If you could send the intended parents who are considering you a message, what would it be?
I understand that fertility can be a long process, and a costly one, for many families. I'm glad you've made it this far, and wish you the best on this journey. I hope you can feel assured that things will work out in due time despite the usual bumps in the road. The only other thing I'd like to say is that I've read a lot about people who were donor-conceived, and based on that reading, I've understood that those children are most well-adjusted if the family was open with them from the start about being born by donor conception (as long as they can remember, with age-appropriate explanations). I think that donor conception is a very reasonable thing to do and there are multiple reasons to seek it out, and there's just nothing there that needs to be hidden, certainly not from people we are close to. Over the years, it has become a more and more common method of reproduction, and I expect that trend to continue. For two-parent families there is a good book I read and recommend called Three Makes Baby by Jana Rupnow.
